Thanks,
Got one, $33.99 not too bad including S&H.
Looks to be a later one as it does not have the hollow yellow needle valve, but does have an anodized case.
One left!!

That is why I posted the e bay listing here. I felt bad that you lost out and hoped you could get one of the .049 set up's.

Hey guys is the Cox Killer Bee .051 now the hot set up?
I kicked up some junk arround and found one of my old Cox Black Widow's, it was found in what my wife refers to as "Deep storage".

I cleaned up the BW and performed the swap out on my HV. Man, what a difference this little engine makes. Flying on Norvel 25%, 5.4/4 APC and 35" on daycron line.

I made the mistake of completely filling the tank, it wouldn't run out of fuel. You Know, old men get dizzy real fast.

You should have seen the guys faces when I started to fly the pattern at the field on Sunday.

Per Larry's suggestion. To Cure a irregular engine run caused by the tank. Instead of cutting the existing tank vents I cut some large size fuel tubing into two pieces. Each were about about 1 1/2" long and taper cut the tubing ends at 22 degrees. I then slid them over the top and bottom of stock tank vents.

Now I am going to need change from the daycron lines. There is just too much drag and I do need a longer set to fly with, mayby 42 feet of .008.

This darn thing is getting better every weekend and you know flying the HV, will make you appreiciate the old 5.5 or 6 second lap time of a forty size ship.

I think the BW would be a good engine for the HV. Just drop the tank in favor of the Sure Start backplate, add Larry's Ballon tank, Drill the venturie and your in the air.
Worth noteing: It seems that some of the resent BW's were released with Venom Pistons and Cylinders. Cox must of had some laying around and put them into production.
I've gotten one of them!

How can you tell that you have a Venom piston & cylinder?

You guys are driving me nuts! That's Balloon, not Ballon.

Sorry, I have a language teacher fur a wif.

and there are two, too, and to ... learn the difference.

Don't mean to put y'all down, but the net is a great place to practice better speachifyin'.

What you have to say REALLY matters, and we want to hear it. How you say it is secondary, but lends credence to what you are saying.

Sorry, that is the way the world works. And I ain't purfek nohow neither.

How can you tell that you have a Venom piston & cylinder?

Thanks

I am a retread, - I did C/L in my youth and did not know what I was doing then other then having fun. And not much has changed.

The cylinder is a standard "recent" Tee Dee item. That is it has one extra flute in the bypasses, open exhaust with sub-piston induction, and a tapered grind.

The piston is also taper ground, but the wall thickness is about .005 thinner than the stock pistons.

Thank you Larry, for the piston/cylinder info. I assume that it is not possible to buy those venom p/c's from Cox, errr Estes?
Right?
(Just so you know Larry... I can spell baloons!)

No you can't. Check a dictionary.

Ran my .051 KB today mounted in the HV. Using 30% nitro with a Cox black 5X3 prop the best I could get was 16,300. This is the good KB with the yellow plastic needle valve extention. I did change the reed to Teflon.
Should this engine be running better?
I've heard rumors of 20,000 right out of the box.
In contrast, I'm getting 15,500 with a BW using a TD glow plug and three gaskets with the same prop. With a little tinkering, I could equal or surpass the KB with the BW.
Dick, How is yours doing?

The C*x black prop is actually a rather large prop for what you want. Try an APC 5.7x3, and I think both you and the engine will be much happier.
