A fellow I work with is into model railroading and he is adding a new animation to his train layout, pretty neat. He said he paid about $200 for it (ouch!), but I’m sure some people would think that I pay too much for my hobby.

For $200 it should be able to do the beginner pattern, a Flite Streak, engine, accessories and fuel would cost about the same - and that combo can do it!

That's a drop in the bucket in model railroading. I purchased a limited production brass locomotive for $1,200.00, once. I have sold 6 of my other brass locos and they are still paying for the control line hobby. Only golf is more insane, in my opinion.

Only $1,200?

OS used to meke steam locomotives for $20,000!

With that kind of money I'd be able to throw in a van to carry the stuff...

Gentry Hayes at Hayes Hobby in Fayetteville, NC has one of those on his shop layout. It is *much* older, and the flier must be George Aldrich since the plane flys clockwise!
