ARF Nobler Saito .40 4-c & 3 blade prop?

Hey Guys: I just recieved today a kit and engine from a trade back east. The kit is a nib Top Flite ARF C/L Nobler and a nib Saito .40 GK. The trade was accidental in the match of plane and engine, but, it looks to be a good match! The kit has the synthetic tank and not the earlier metal one. I'll check the threads on Nobler.

PS. for anybody learning model building, such as me, I found it helps to buy a ARF or ARC kit as teaching tools. It really helps to have the videos, but a good completed kit without the covering is an amazing teaching image. Striving for the end result is the key. Excellent model building is an art, to say the least. We should never cut ourselves short from this fact. Remember the film: The flight of the Pheonix? A German model designer got them all off the ground!

You never stop learning. I have been fiddling with this stuff just over four decades now and I am just a novice compared to a lot of the guys around here- I still keep trying tho!

The Saito 40 is a great match for the ARF Nobler , I know because thats what is in one of my Noblers.The weight is just perfect . The motor run is good with the tank on the engine mounts. Just a great flyer and the price is even better. See Ya NEAL:)

I'm thinking of ordering, a high quality (3) blade prop and spinner for the Nobler/Saito project. My altitude is high here, and would this make a difference in performance? If so, whatsize & brand of prop, spinner? Maybe Leonard has them for the Saito hook-up.

I am not sure anyone has a good answer to your question. The Saito 40 is a fairly new engine and good 3 blade props are pretty hard to come by. This has limited the research time on what works and what doesn't. My Saito 40 runs great on a 2 blade Rev-Up 11-4 but I am sure others are using diferent props and getting runs they are happy with. I started with an 11-5 but the lap times were a bit fast, the 11-4 works so well I haven't tried any others.

I would guess in a 3 blade... (if you can find them) 10.5 x 4 or 10.5 x 5. Try them both, and then try them both cut to 10". After this you will know which 3 blade works for you.
