Foam Wing Cores

There seems to be a number of foam wing core manufacturers out there. Question: Which manufacturer is the best for CL Stunt foam wing cores?

Oh, that word, "best" should never be used. It is too subjective. Which is the best automobile, motorcycle, airplane engine? Baseball season is about to start. Anybody want to say who will win the world series?

All that aside, there are a number of good foam cutters out there, many (or even most) of whom will do a very good job. Some have come and gone, unfortunately, but others have taken their place. Bob Hunt has been at it for quite some time. I got several sets of cores from him in the early days and Matt got a "lost foam" set from him a while back. Fine quality. But our own Crist Rigotti has also begun cutting cores of late, and he, too, does a fine job. You may just want to check availability or cost or shipping or?

Another shameless plug. Crist is a friend and makes a great product but there really is nothing like cutting your own cores for giving you a sense of pride in your work... and they are not that tough to do yourself. That said I have copies of the video produced by Good-To-Go models on cutting your own foam wings. There is advice on making your own bow, power sources, finding foam locally, making templates and even a few lame jokes. Pretty much everything you need to cut your own wings. Hey, If your around Bob at any length of time, you'll hear a few lame jokes! Bob is right, it ain't hard. I haven't seen his video but I'll bet it'll do the job on getting you on track on cutting your own cores. Bob, see you in Polk City?

Crist is the way to go. Quality is good and the prices are right. And he's a good guy.

Not to slight Crist or Johnny Duncan, but Pearson does a great job, too. Selecting one of these three is a sound choice, and would depend upon the templates that they have.

It also depends on options you want. I asked Crist if he did LG clips, and no, he doesn't. I forgot what he said about spars. If you can get the spars, you can do the LG clips yourself. I hope. Steve

I got a foam core from Randy Smith and it is incredible, the weight of the foam itself is great, and I am excited about getting it finished.

You can't argue with the track record of the SV series as well.
