Just thought I`d post and picture of both together.Cliff Steele`s Conquistador and the Heinz. This shows the influence it had for the shapes and paint scheme.This Conquistador was built in our shop class in 1960.

I thought the Conquistador was bigger...... (how big is it?)
The "Heinz" looks better each time I see it.

Bill,
The Conquistador is about 590sq.and has a 55 in wing. This one weighed 37oz.Cliff did a great job on it and he was only 15or16years old.And when you saw the Heinz on the forum it wasn!t rubed out yet.And now it is.

Nice looking ships!

The Conquistadore is particularly interesting as one actually turned up at the field last year and no one had heard of it.

I'm kind of curious as to who and when the original was flown? It
wasn't kitted, was it?

Richard,
No,it was never kitted. It was designed about 1958 or 9. I believe it was designed by someone in tucson or New Mexico.It`s been so long and a seem to have holes in my memory.It must have something to do with age. Sorry I can`t tell you more.May someone could jump in here a tell us both.The biggest problem with the Conquistador is the very short nose moment and the thin airfoil. But it is a pretty plane.

The Conquistodor with the elliptical wing planform like that in Gordon's picture is by Thorton Hoffman. It was published in Model Airplane New, Aug 58.

Claire Sieverling designed the El Conquistador. It had a straight LE, smallish flaps, basic/functional type layout. It was published in American Modeler, Mar 58.

PS.Gordon is spelled Gordan.I don`t know why but my Mom wanted it to be differant. Boy,what a mess.Trying to keep records straight.

Here is a Conquistador that I picked up at junk night last December. Would anyone happen to have the plans or article about this model? It would be helpful during the rebuild. Who ever built this did a very nice job. I'm thinking a detuned OS FP-40 would do a nice job as a power plant.
