Aluminum Spinners: factory cut?

I just purchased some of the old/new stock Veco aluminum spinners for use on my CL Stunt ships. All look to be new, but some are cut for prop, and others are not. The cut ones look professionally done. My question is this, could a fellow buy a new spinner either "cut or uncut" from Veco back then, or did some machinist wizard cut the ones I have?

If the cut was square,the factory did it.I have no idea why, they never fit any prop of a useable size.The early Frooms were uncut,then all of a sudden,all were cut.Same with the B&D/Veco/Fox's.Maybe someone out there knows why.
