Muffler for old "sandcast" Fox 35?

Anyone know if a muffler is available for a "sandcast" Fox 35 with the "squared off" exhaust port?

If you want to put a muffler on the Fox, may I suggest you send YOUR engine to me and I'll send you a 50th anniversary, muffler lugs finally included, version.

Granted I'm assuming you have a pristine sandcast 35 not a 'Run through the tarmac 6 times and still has ONE mounting lug left' version.

Let that old sandcast bark like it's supposed to and pick up one of the 50ths for your muffled areas.

The sandcast has been through the wars...not collector's condition. I'm a Lurker here; have not flown control line since I was a kid in the late 40's early 50's. I have this inner urge since I retired, to relive my youth, and thus aquired this beat up (with good compression and front bushing) Fox, find a Ringmaster, and become 13 yrs old again. If I thought I could find a flying field I would do it (without muffler) in a NY minute.

I'm not familiar with the Sandcast version, but on all my older foxes without a means to mount a muffler, I've epoxied some brass tubes to the side of the exhaust using JBweld and used a modern tongue muffler.

RSM and SSW here can sell you one at a reasonable price.

Thanks, McCoy40. It's not in "collectible" condition, but still a very unique (and nostalic, for me) engine, so I don't want to modify it.

I have a 29 of the "sandcast" (they weren't, just looked like it) type, but the compression is so weak that a 10" prop would probably spin through two turns on one flip. I've often wondered in the months since I acquired it, if there would be any advantage in swapping parts from a later model of the same size? (Which I happen to have, but only through the kindness of Marvin Denny.)

It would look entirely apprropriate on the front of several oldies I've had some fleeting urges to build, like a Hotter'n'That . .

GMA told me on the .35s he took the new ABC piston and liner set-up and dropped it in the old case. Made a killer OTS motor. On the .29, go ahead and give it a try, can't make it any worse than it is now!
