I am going to New York tomorrow and i'll be in the Manhattan area.Does anyone know of anygood hobby shops, or some place where i can get stuff that has to do with model airplanes.

I *think* Tower Hobbies is there. I want to say 28th street. It is not too far from the Empire State Building.

I have visited AHC a couple of times. The expierience was disappointing.

AHC has moved their headquarters across the River to North Bergen, and they have done a bang up job with the MegaTech line.

Brownies, on the other hand, should be on the National Register of great hobby (especially controline) places on the Planet. From the apparent chaos the folks there know where every little widget is....and they are National Champions at racing or speed, or something.....

I've been to AHC twice and both times I encountered the rudest people in the world, which for New York City is saying something. I first dealt with them in 1952, and that was a lesson in marketing and lying. Never again after 1968.

Alas and alack.....the Greatest City doesn't have a hobby shop that does controline in it's main borough....a fun day would be to take the (FREE) Ferry to Staten Island and the a cab to BROWNIES...a terrific place, where all sorts of magical stuff hides.

AHC was the one I was thinking of.

I am in agreement with PEABODY call Windy and visit his shop its only a hop and skip away near Giants Stadium. AHC is a disappointment for Controline flyers.

There's a hobby shop in Ridgefield NJ, isn't there? Peabody should know or someone else from the GSCB. The gentleman from Ridgefield sold CL kits at the GSCB swap meet. His prices were quite reasonable. If you are driving, Ridgefield is close to Manhattan.

Alas AHC is a weird trip that offers almost nothing for CL. Marshall the owner is something of a shabby Barnum. Megatech engines are reasonably priced (AHC manufactures them overseas somewhere somehow) and could be good quality Taiwanese. Maybe a slow combat person will convert one to CL and make a discovery of another OS clone that can be made to work (perhaps even work for Stunt.) AHC still does have a Manhattan location, I believe on 30th street around 7th Ave. The store is listed in the phone directory. Marshall sits like OZ (above customer eye level) behind the counter at the entrance making it up as he goes along.

I'm going to check out Brownies though in Staten Island. Sounds great.

I am amazed the Marshall is still at AHC... The most obnoxious of all New Yorkers. He treats everyone the same though!
