Trip to Peoria

My family and I will be in Peoria, Ill. over the weekend of April 24Th and 25Th. My daughters have a volleyball tournament that weekend but I'm hoping to be able to slip away for a little while and do some flying if the weather is cooperative. I know there are some active C/L guys in the area but this will be my first trip to the city so if anyone is interested in getting together please let me know.

There is a nice flying site in Peoria with two well manicured grass circles next to the golf course and across from the soccer fields up north of town along the river. (Better get better directions from one of the natives.) I can drive there, but the name of the place escapes me. Should be someone around to fly with. If not, rent a cart and...

The place is Detweiller Park. Floyd Layton was one of the contest Directors for the last Heart of Illinois Championships perhaps he could tell you who you could contact for permission and/or someone to fly with.
