Broke my NVA !!!

OK after I cleaned the sand out of my McCoy .19 I wanted to run it on the bench to get the engine setup to run this weekend. As I tried to start it, it looked like bubbles were coming from around the NVA so I went to tighten it up and twisted the darn thing in half. Now I am without and engine and need really want to fly this weekend. Anyone know if another brand will work in a McCoy .19?

Did you break the needle or the spray bar? Needles are rare. Spray bars are pretty common.

Spray bar broke in the middle. Brass. Needle is fine.

The Fox stunt 35 NVA will fit and they are plentiful. Although, they are not the best NVA around.

Try a Super Tigre needle valve assembly. I have used them on many different engines.

The Super Tigre NVA is a better assembly, but there are four different lengths of them and virtually ALL of them will require shimming of the body to get the spray hole centered in the venturi. Yes, the Fox NVA is something that your LHS might have.

Take the engine to the LHS when you go. I could send you a replacement but you wouldn't get it for the weekend. If they don't have the replacement see if they will sell you one out of a new engine and order a replacement. Get a couple if they have 'em. The hole doesn't have to be in the middle of the spray bar, just look for a good fit of the spray bar in the venturi. Tell "prop buster" hello for me.

Leonard has supplied a few different Super Tigre NVA's for me
and found them to be usefull on many different engines.

below is an excerpt from an e-mail Leonard sent to me explaining the differences
which I found to be very handy.

"The small ST needle valves are centered at .500 and good to about .550 width at the case.  The medium ones are centered at .670 and good to about .700."

I will try and get over to my not so LHS and see if they have one. I do not think they will because they guys that run it are into RC cars. But it is worth a shot. I will keep you in mind.

I think one of your other motors has a needle valve assembly that you could swap out. Just trade it back and forth - two motors-one NVA. best regards,

I looked at the Fox 15 and the vent looks way smaller then the McCoy.

How about the Fox .25?
