For those of you who still don't care for a BLUE motor....
True, the CL versions still only available in blue but they were priced higher than the RC motor w/carb. That tells one they sell a lot more ones with carbs vs. venturis and CL NVAs.

The .46LA has never been available before in natural, in any form. Back when Orwicks were green, and McCoy's were black, did people whine and snivel about it? Here's a 1948 OS, in faded blue (photo swiped from the OS website). I think the LA's are painted, not powder coated, as some have posted here that thinners will remove it. Powder coating isn't that easy to remove. I don't mind the blue, and it doesn't seem to get grungy looking, like bare aluminum.

After stripping and replacing the parts (mostly used parts I got at another "parts lot") I test fired it with no issues (even though it had reduced commpression) and re-sold it on Ebay for more than double my investment. Even with the low comp adverised. I have one I bought new from Tony & Addies but have not stripped it. It will find it's way into a full body ship (someday..NO REALLY!) so I am not so concerned about what is under cover

They just ship it in a protective blue wrapper. Wipe it off.

Rick:
In the pricing I saw a while back from Tower the natural finish 40 RC was $5 less than the blue finish RC. The CL version, blue finish $5 higher still.
As the CL version is still, unfortunately, remote needle, the only thing useable you are getting for your extra $5 is the venturi which may or may not be the size you want. Get a venturi made, about .290-.295 diameter, and a Supertigre needle valve assembly(will require enlarging the front venturi opening where the spray bar will go to 5/32-an easy deal really) and you should be in pretty good shape.
Anyway, getting rid of the blue is great. If it cuts the price $5 as in the 40 LA R/C add I mentioned, I might be forced to buy another one.
No kidding! Frankly I could care less what color they are, I'm totally thrilled with the one I have, remote needle and plastic backplate and all.
Jim, I just installed one on the Pathfinder you sold me last August. Man what a difference a well built and trimmed plane can do for a person. Bob Reeves has been telling me for a year that I needed to get a "real" plane. I knew he was right, but had no idea how much fun I was missing as far as stunt goes.

Be careful what you say- you might get a green and purple checkerboard one with an orange head...

"It'll probably feel real good again, once it quits hurting".
Your right, I hope they stop at the blue. I have to admit, I like the blue look at least it's different!

I've even seen one of his motors in a clear powder coat finish. Just made it very shiny all over.
Hey, that's great Rick! Hopefully we'll see you over here next month with it.
I thought the LA 46 would be very, very good on that airplane, even better than the stout 40 I had on it(for P 40). In the meantime, I built another scratch Pathfinder over the winter powered with the same stout 40. Flew it a little, took it to Jacksonville for P 40 and had some funky runs I attribute to being overpropped. Little power, some wind, but made it through both patterns but with less than stellar scores. The new airplane is not shaking out as well as yours-much more trimming needed.
BTW-the LA 46 would be legal on that airplane on the East coast. Some 60's were used in the profile event.

I assume it will be okay for Brodaks as well, as that event is on my schedule this year. I will also be down your way next month. Looking forward to seeing you and catching up on your Alaska trip and your winter building projects.
Can't wait to hook it up with you in the combat circle as well!
