What are you building?

Is anyone out there working on anything new?

I have a Satona (SV24) in the works, all the parts are cut out but I am going slow, been very busy. It will be a foam wing and I must say that the foam itself is SO light, i could not believe it when I got it from Randy. I am using a PA40/pipe and perhaps I may even get one of the new light weight 40s that Randy has out now.

Anyone else? Any pictures? That is the best part.

Just started laying out a Tutor. Plans are to put a Max S 35 on it. I have never had a Tutor before, but I am told they are a very good sport flyer.

Aaron, I am working on a digital camera so I can post pics. I have a zillion stunt pics, but all prints. May try to scan.

This is my Oriental.the color of the wings is Creamy tan and red.The photo makes it look more white.The fuse still has to be covered.It is 22oz so far so I hope it well be reasonably light with the Brodak 40.I hollowed all the blocks and changed a few peices of heavy wood.This is my first built up fuse control line plane.Hoping it is a good flyer so it builder can begin to be one also?Dennis

Here is the finished photos of the Oriental and my Cardinal.The Oriental only has a few flights (Darn wind) but it is working very nice so far and the Brodak 40 is great also .A very nice combo.The Cardinal is LA40 power and great with about 40 flights.Dennis:)

Here's one of my current projects...it's a little further along than this now, but I haven't taken recent pics. (1/2A of course; I'll put my Norvel .061 on it.)

4 new planes on the workbench. My Brodak LEGACY is almost finished and ready for a couple of clear coats. It has T&L ST51 and now weighs 50.1 oz. less fuel and everything in place. Of course, I had to "bash" the kit and replace a lot of the kit wood. It doesn't look much like a LEGACY anymore, so it is called "LARCENY".

I don't have a digital camera, so I can't post any pictures.

I aint got pictures either at the moment, but currently......Flite Streak, Accentor and Still Stuka are on the board......just flick between them depending on how I feel onthe day for building. Should have some completed by end of next week....will post piccs then

The little beastie is still in development phase, no plans available as yet. Once it's perfected, I'll offer it in both kit form and plans, this summer sometime probably. Meanwhile, look at my other stuff:

Well.... you know what I'm building!
But for the others, the "Mutant Mustang" (painting process underway), making an Ares kit, the Werwage Vulcan (needs covering), the AA Sr.(needs painting), the LL USA-1 (needs covering), an RD-1 (needs painting), a Cosmic Wind, a Buster (need painting) (both Goldberg), a Little Missle, and cut the ribs for the "Secret" PAMPA plane.
Also have a Fancy pants "kit" cut out.....need to put the finish back on my Parrott P-47........
Need to start another one!! ......... any suggestions???

Looks like the canopy is back about two inches from plans. I love that look. Built a couple of legacy's. First one, I put a turtle deck on and totally changed its looks. No. 2, I just moved the canopy back about four inches and, again, totally changed its looks. That is one sweet looking Magnum.

OK, I've resisted as long as I can. My aircraft projects have been put on the very back burner for a little while as I build a cradle for grandchild #1 due around the end of August. That's what I'm building. As you can guess, I'm flying high right now.

As soon as the cradle's finished the airplane projects will be full speed ahead and I expect to be posting pictures of my new Cardinal sometime in July.

I just finished a 1/2A mini Mongoose. It is about 190sq and has a new Fox .07 on it. I had one years ago 1974? and it flew very nicely. I hope that this does the same.

I been there and here is my example but this is for my youngest daughter,not my grandaughter.She is closing in on 2 now so she has outgrown it now and uses it as a Teddy Bear bed.Note the Gee Bee head board.You can have fun even when building other stuff.

Hi John,
You should like it! Mine has a ST 46, weighs a porky 51 oz RTF.
This was the original paint scheme for 1964 from Aeromodeler.
White and black, MOCKBA on the wing, 22 on the fin.
It does have a littl bitty stab/elev set up, though, and I had to go back in and strengthen the spairs at the root. Not much material there.
Good Luck with it, they are really "smooth" fliers!

How did it fly ? At 51 ounces I mean. Mine will be an I-Beam to save weight along with a Magnum .36 . also i cant build a Soviet Plane unless it's RED.Hope to bring it in a bit less than yours but anybody that knows me sees my stuff at a bit heavy.

dad's plane actually flew ok.
it did GREAT rounds at that weight though the squares were a little ummm well shaky, the size of the tail feathers did not really help either.

really an odd design with such a thin airfoil and what not.

at the time he built it, there wasn't exactly an effort to use the best possible wood, so i am sure that some 8lb snuck in there all over the place.

his had a st 46 and it worked very will in the plane.

my love for the magnum 36 is growing each time i use it, i picked another one up. A 10.5 X 3.75(up to 4) three blade REALLY seems to be working very well, one was a bolly one was a eather cut down

I have got a Brodak Original Flite Streak on the boards right now, will be powered by an OS 25 LA, doing some small mods to the Flight Streak as suggested by SSW forum members.
1)Adjustable leadouts
2)Adjustable tip weight
3)Lengthened engine bearers

Also working on a small batch of Jr Satans, just getting the files sorted for CNC cutting the parts, Vector 40 after that if I dont get a Dynajet sooner, will practise like hell with the Flite Streak and the same on the Vector and maybe enter the British Nationals.

Yea Ya, Received this kit a couple of days ago. Ready for base and final coats.

Just finished building this. AK-47 BB machine gun shoots 10 BB's a second. Operates on compressed air from the air compressor. 90% of what you see is just for looks.

I have one huge project going ---- Brodak Flying Clown!

Just finished covering a Brodak Nobler, it is covered with sig dope, and Brodak silkspan.I'm only thirteen, and have only been flying models since last summer(alot of the flying was not very good, but i think i'm improving). All of this would of not been possible with out the help of Lynn Nix, he's tought me everything I know about model airplanes. Thanks mr.Nix.

I just finished building this. It is called a Tall Bicycle if you do a search on the internet. When I was a boy in the 60's they called it an upside down bicycle. You remove all the parts from a bike frame. Turn the frame upside down. Put all the parts back on the frame. Add a seat post and extend the handle bars and its ready to ride. My 2 boys are wareing it out having a ball with it.

I am just putting the finishing touches on a take apart Eindecker. 670 inches powered by an OS .52FS The Plane is completely take apart. With the tank located in the center section, it allowed me to put the heavy four stroke almost right up against the leading edge. This made for a much more scale appearance. My thinking is that with the short nose, I can keep the gyroscopic pression to a minimum( any thoughts out there on this matter?) Can't remeber if I posted this pic before, I remember trying and having some problems. Anyway - Sig Buster w/ Medallion .09. It's gonna be used as a intro trainer for kids / parents whe stop by when we're flying. Rustoleum finish. Started this one over 10 years ago in Detroit, if it survived all the moves, it should survive a few beginner flights!

If i get this loaded right, here are some pix of the start of my new Tempest-replacing the one I destroyed at VSC.

Slightly modified Sig Akromaster, now in Brodak White Primer, ready to sand.
Ignored the part about cutting off the extra part of the LE and TE so the wingspan is about 4" longer. Of course, had to add two new center ribs, two outer ribs, extend the fixed flaps, and modify the center section of the wing. Went to a 3" bellcrank also.
Everything else is standard kit.
Power is a TT 10.

I've got a Brodak Legacy on the bench, and hope to get it off the bench soon! Man, I get soooo impatient at the finishing stage, I just want to wrap the wings in butchers paper and go flying! Naw...guess I'll hold my horses. This puppy is setup for a Saito 56.

Thanks to some suggestions I've seen on here, I did the "painted from the inside" canopy trick. I like it, because I know what the finish paint scheme will look like...but right now it looks a little orphaned sitting on raw balsa.

1. Scientific Bullet, to compete with Z Man, above, in the All Musciano Hollow Log meet in Sep. it will be light. The "fuse in white" is under 10 grams right now (router, much hollowing and sanding).

2. A sub 20 ounce Ringmaster, and more about this later.

3. Restoring an ebay Fierce Arrow, this one with trike gear.

I'm coming along very nicely on a #5 Easy for ST G20-15 diesel. Hopefully for Old Time Stunt ar VSC next year.

I built this chopper bike last week and I built this recumbent bike this week.

I am thinking about building a bike with wings. I can scale up a model airplane and put a bike on it. If the wing area is large enough it should fly. Probably won't fly very far it will loose speed and land. It will be good for practicing taking off and landing. lol

Very creative, Gary. Not sure you can get enough wing on a bike to lift off, but what the hey--go for it! Maybe a hang-glider wing would be the right approach.
And lessee, now: A Dyna-jet on the back fender...oh yeah.

I recently finished a Gieseke Nobler from the Ultra Hobby Products laser cut kit. Power is a reworked ThunderTiger 36, 46 oz., Polyspan and auto paint. Flies great. Every time I fly it, I start to ask myself why we are flying such big planes in competitive PA.

I will be starting this week on the prototype UHP laser cut kit of Bob Hunt's Saturn. This should be a good one. Everything but the sheeting and top and bottom blocks is laser cut. I am planning on powering it with an OS 52 Surpass.

I know the feeling, my scratchbuilt Gieseke was awesome, even on a Fox 35. I've got a new scratchbuilt 52 Nobler I'm trimming now that my flying buddies say flies better than my regular pampa job. I've got the Bear plans from you guys, so I have to ask: knowing already that it is a Nobler, does it fly anything like the smaller '68 job?

As far what I'm building, right now its a Time machine 60, the newest version with Nobler asthetics. After that, I get to chose between an :Avanti 50, Strega, Vector 40.......too many decisions. ugh.
