Nobler ARF leadouts

I sent an email to Top Flite reguarding the leadouts asking what their thoughts were, and this is the responce I received, took 3 days for a response. I'm going to replace mine since I haven't assembled it as yet. I've got a later version with the 6 oz. plastic fuel tank.

Thanks Jim. Good info. I've adapted a Top Flite Nobler one unit nose piece (already painted, and cost $14.00 from Tower Hobbies), to the Brodak Nobler, which saves about two days of carving time. Another CL outfit charges $29.00 for a crude replica of same. Also the canopies for the Nobler are adaptable as well, for a fraction of the cost. (Always Learning William)

FYI, 100' of 0.027" 7 strand stainless aircraft cable will cost you the princly sum of $3.00 from McMaster Carr (got mine yesterday).

While I am willing to concede there might be a point here worth making, I surely don't get it.

If you don't like something, anything, in the ARFs, simply change it out and get on with it. It's not like you bought something which is sealed up, vital parts inaccessible.

Unlike the built Nobler I once bought off the ceiling of a hobby shop for $10.00. 'Crank pulled out during the fourth flight.

I'm not complaining Dan, I think it's great that someone like me with limited building skills can plunck down $100.00 bucks and get an almost finished plane. I was just curious if they had upgraded to heavier leadouts in the latter batches that's all.

My apologies. Evidently I read something that wasn't there into your posting.

And you're right: These things are a great deal.

You may have missed this, but I have it on very good authority that one *must* check and double-check alignment of horizontal stabilizer to be sure it is properly aligned.

Just changed out the lead outs on my ARF Nobler yesterday. After getting the new stranded cables installed, I gave a close look at those clips and cables and although I didn't think much of the crimping job, I had to study those clips before it dawned on me why they wouldn't work. They were a new idea that I had not seen before. It was not the way it has allways been done and therefore could not work. THEY JUST HAD TO GO!

hmm, those clips have been working over the last season for me. I did switch out the original thin leadouts tho'.

Thanks Dan, I'll make sure to check that out, I haven't started it yet, I hope to get to my Sig Deweybird this weekend, It's been a long time away from this hobby for me, I hope to get the grandkids interested.
