I've always heard from CL folks that the HB engines from Germany are TOO HEAVY! Good accurate scales are reasonably cheap, so, I compared the OS versions of the .10 through .20 engines with the HBs. Guess what, the HBs are the nearly the same weight. The HB .12 & .15 are plain bearing models like the OS, and the manual tech notes show the rpm/hp range nearly identical. The HB .20 rc is identical weight to the OS .20 rc. I'll admit the bigger .40 PDPs and .61s are heavy, and best suited for their intended purpose, which is rc aero and marine and heli. And the 6100 series HB .61 is a version with reduced fins on the case and smaller metal buildup all around--significantly lighter than its counterpart, the HB .61 and .61 PDP models. The 6100 non-PDP series can be found on sites now and then for about $80.00 bucks new in box, and are superbly manchined and put out an honest 1.5 HP at 16,000. CL sweeper candidate? But just for the record, the smaller HBs should do as well as the OS versions in smaller rc or perhaps, CL?
