Flite Streak leadouts

Just how do I replace the Q#$% things?

I unscrewed the B/C and pulled it to the center; cut off the leadouts and used 1/16" tubing to crimp new, heavier leadouts to the original ones, and tried to pull the new leadouts through the guides. Didn't work!

Should I have gone the other way?

The crimped tubing is the problem. Overlap the two wires about 1 inch and use masking tape to join make the splice as small as you can. Others have reported using CA to glue the wires together.

I ran mine through the other way. It is easier to pass the thicker splice joint through the wing tip guides going from the outside.

If you replace them with solids they will drop right through with the wing held vertical.

I actually didn't change my ARF Flite Streak's leadouts, but on the Nobler ARF, where I did, i just simply threaded the cable from the wingtip end through the rib holes until I could grab the cable in the bell crank region.

It's even easier if you lightly glue the lead out to a piece of small diameter piano wire. The wire gives you more control in pushing the wire thru.

I went with the solid lead out modification. It dropped right in. Pulled the wire out throught the hatch and hooked up the bell crank and slipped it back into the wing. Double check for hang ups or snags after your modification.

On my Nobler I modified the leadouts with a better set of cables but I still used solid wire fed down the wing from the outside and out the hatch. I then tape spliced the new cable leadout to the wire and carefully pulled, wiggled, and pulled the cable out through the wing.
You just have to hold your mouth just right to get this to work.
