I just had an experience on eBay that I'd like to share with you folks. I bought an RSM Stuka Stunter kit (what else for a reader on this forum?). The Post Office delivered a mangled mess of a box that had obviously been run over. How bad was it? The canopy was flat and the aluminum gear had "die-cut" right through everything under it. The the first thing the mailman said was, "No insurance. Too bad!" I hadn't paid for insurance so it was my responsibility. The Seller had double boxed it so he had done his job just fine. I emailed the Seller just to share the pictures of it. He immediately sent me a very sizeable refund! I didn't ask for, nor expect, an adjustment but that is the kind of guy Joe Mader (freddie45) is. I salute you, Joe! You are one of the good guys.

Insurance or not, The Post Office still has to use reasonable care in transporting your package. In this case they obviously did not. I would at least present it to your local post office and make A LOT OF NOISE abut it.

JOE MADER is the best guy you can deal with. I live in New Zealand ( half the world away ) and have bought a number of kits/motors, accessories off Joe. He always puts extras into boxes, in fact, we now e-mail every day. He is a legend in his own right. I know he is in Missouri and runs a shop called "Sams Stuff and Hobbies" if any of you are near him. please go in and see him and shake his hand for me. I cant do it from here. so would appreciate it if anyone could.
Joe always has control line items on E-bay and will get anything in even if he does not stock that line of product. he is trully one of the good guys.

Sorry to hear the problem with basic "institutional responsibilty" has been raised...
Maybe, if only LARGER governmental subsidies, to pay for "sensitivity" training for employees given to indifferent handling of those "doggone annoying publics business packages!"
would help...yes, yes, I am SURE more spending on programs to train people that do not care...THAT is the answer.
Untill more billions can be poured into protecting government jobs for incompetents...do you think...if you took several pictures of the package, sent them to the UPS or FedEx public relations dept...to use as they would like with close ups of the Post Office's post marks...they may reimburse you?....naaawww.

Another good guy has been found! I emailed the pictures of the damaged kit to Eric Rule at RSM and he offered to replace the damaged parts for me. Folks, this hobby has some of the finest people in the world and I found two of them today! I salute them both. Ron Duly
I have never met Eric Rule but I bought a couple fuel tanks from his web site. I had a question about the plumbing on the "Old Time" stunt tank I had bought so I E-Mailed him. I recieved an immediate responce to my E-mail with instructions on how to hook the tank up.
What really impressed me was his offer to come over to my house and help if I needed!

#6 sourceIt's a wonder why we would ever quit modeling with such a fine group to hang out with and just be a part of something bigger than ourselves. I received an email this morning from the daughter of Dick Mathis, Lexie, trying to get her dad and son back into modeling... if he only knew maybe we could get him to return. I pray I never quit again. We even have former modelers that hang out at the Seattle Skyraiders meetings and never even fly or build, why? Because of their associations with one of the finest groups of men a guy could be part of....modelers and those that have a love for model airplanes...god bless Joe Mader...Jim Johnson.... Lexie Mathis Jones send her and email and she will show it to her dad.
