Yes. Tony is a retired IBM electronics engineer. I think he originally made the tach for himself, then was encouraged to go into production.
Last time I spoke with him was a couple of years ago when I ordered my tach. He is/was an RC flyer and flys at a field about 15 miles from me. He has to fly larger planes because of his eyesight.
I think he sold his company because of health reasons.
BTW, the company name, TNC, is his initials.
I have not heard about tachs from the new producers, but I would assume they uphold the high standards Tony set.

Well, more like infinitely better, since the TNC works, and for the most part, the others don't. I figure that the $18 is more like a donation to Tower Hobbies, and the $10 worth of watch batteries is a donation to Eveready twice a year.
The cheapies are neither accurate nor repeatable. Therefore, next to useless. The TNC is reported to be accurate to within 5 PPM. So eitehr you don't care what the RPM is, and therefore, don't buy ANY tachometer, or you do care what the RPM is, and therefore, buy the TNC.
