Mackey Lark question

Does anyone remember what issue of what magazine this was featured in? There was a version of it as an open cockpit mentioned in the article.

I do. It was in MAN, February 1960. The article I believe shows the open cockpit version. The RSM kit is easy to modify to this version.

The original was open cockpit, and looked marvelous. Why they changed it is a mystery, but I suppose the Editor or Charles Mackey figured that something that looked closer to a Nobler would sell more plans (good grief!). Also, I would judge the graphic paint scheme to be very modern for the time, and would look just marvy today, even without the required stars and checkerboarding. I'd love to find out what the original's colors were, if anybody knows. The magazine pics were in B&W, of course. Steve
