Scientific Stinson Voyager

I took my Scientific Stinson Voyager off the wall the other day, mounted the Atwood Shriek in it and flew it at the SAM Champs over Easter.
This is the first time it has been flown since about 1958.
As I recall, I paid $2.95 for the Atwood and $1.49 for the hollow-log kit from AHC.
I may still have the plan and could also post a shot of the model if there is any interest.

Here is the Voyager. It flew very well on the original (oily) 35' dacron lines. Very windy the other day and I was relieved when the Atwood finally quit. Will fly it again at the Veteran's Gathering in a couple of weeks. I'm encouraged to re-surrect a few more old control-line models "on the wall"!

Ah, the memories ..... this is one I must get, from Walter M. himself I reckon. This one should have a wing span of 22 inches, and thus maybe fly a bit better than the 18 inch models? THANKS for the photos .... COOL!! Is the Atwood the "Shreik" model w/internal remote tank (do you remember what type / brand tank)? Does the Atwood haul the model pretty good?

I used the Atwood Shreiks in a number of 049 models, typically small stunters around 30/32" span. Still have a couple hanging up.
Lines were normally 42' single strand steel and line tension was more than sufficent on reasonably calm days.
The Shreik did not come with a rear mounted tank and I soldered up small brass ones, enclosing them in the fuselage. These Atwoods were more than a match for the Babe Bee, but not in the same class as the Holland Hornet.
