Monarch P-51H

I recieved a partly built Monarch P-51H Mustang from my Uncle during a resent trip to Minnesota.
He started to build this plane while he was in the Army, which dates to the late fifties.
My question is that the plans call for a .074 thru .14 engine. Will a modern .049 fly this plane?

You bet. Monarch made VERY nice quality kits, they had a lot of carved parts and the ones I had all had nice wood in them.

It is a very nice kit. I'll post a pic when I can get ahold of a decent digital camara.
I'll be setting it up for a Cox KB .049.
I have everything except for a small section between the upper fuse and the stab.
Another question:
Is there a way to clean 50 year old wood that is covered with dust and some staining?

Yep. If you can find it use Texsize K2R spot remover to get out the stains. Plain rubbing alcohol will take a lot of the crud off just by itself.

Decent kits, poor marketing. Currell

Plane cleaned up really nice with rubbing alcohol and cotton balls, thanks for the tip! Filled a number of dings and dents with Micro-Fill Super-Light filler.
Installed the bell crank, stab and rudder today. May get the .049 KB in tomorrow.
After fifty years, this thing may be ready to go in a couple weeks!
