NEW KIT....COBRA

HELLO DUDES, and DUDES that are not DUDES.
Yesterday I received a KIT from Walter Umland. I got me self a COBRA. I opened it up and LET me tell you I got Horny to build. The kit is a work of ART. Super in all ways. The only BAD thing I see is ……you have to build it…lol SO I got busy and started it. Got my Tank done and the engine crutch. Detailed instruction, video, and other neat stuff. Is it worth the price? YEP

Went to the post office today at lunch and claimed my Cobra. (Big sigh of relief.) Hope to get a peek in the box tonight! What engine/tank/muffler combination are you guys planning? Mebbe we should have an as-built matrix to compare the 17 planes?

I have not had one of his kits yet, but I have had people (that have) tell me that they are absolutely beautiful in execution.

OH...Don't forget to look under the top lid of the box...I found some neat stuff taped to it and the landing gear is with the video.

I had to cancel the one I asked for, I sure didn't want to, but sometimes you gotta do things you dont like to. Someone buy this spare Cobra please. At least I'll get to see a bunch of really great Cobras and add some new photos to my album pretty soon, so post the pics.....you guys are a bunch of lucky guys, happy building...........Greg

Truely sorry it didn't work out for you. Some decisions are tough! I told Walter two months ago I'd start saving my lunch money. (He was skeptical.) I lost 10 lbs but scraped the bucks together by the deadline. On the other hand, you can still look forward to building it. Mebbe even scratch built with your best wood from Walters plans....

I'm also wondering if some guys might not be buying 'em so's to have one, without too much intention to start building right away.... (of course, Scott is already an exception to that theory!) Now if these kits were serialized, and we knew who actual got one, and you were to keep track of who finished one (Hey guys, how about a photo!) Etc., etc..... knowwhatimean?

Hey I'm so Pleased with this kit I'm Stoked. Wish everyone could have one. I love to build but not to finish. I should have the plane ready to tissue .......with a week break......June 15th.

My Cobra came yesterday so that makes 6 of Walters offerings that I have in my posession. 2 are built and anticipation for the rest is high. Of course it's now on to the El Diablo.
Seriously even if your a top notch scratch builder you really cannot do better then any of walts kits, The quality is far in excess of the price.
We have all had our share of kits in our modelling career but Walts kits are one of those that raises the bar to a level only reached by a select few. Well done Walter.

OHHHH Dan you are sooooooooo insensitive. Have you never learned that it is better to give then to receive. It's rumored to have strange theraputic properties, gives you a warm fuzzy glow. Try giving me your Oriental and we'll see if we both get fuzzy.

I have 2 of Walter's kits. The Super Duper Zlith he has posted on his website. And the All American that I won as a door prise at FCM. The SDZ was a little tough since I was not thinking ahead while I was building the fuse. I haven't started the All American yet, but will keep it as a backup kit when the SDZ dies.

Maybe you're right Dan. Having a disability that keeps us from finding a regular job sucks big time. I would love more than anything to be able to just talk on the phone, but it's not going to happen. Going on the government dole was not in my career plans. Calling us retired sure sounds allot better than than being disabled. Beside you're going to pay taxes weather we're working or not. Now if I can only build and fly as good as Scott does.

Thinkin' about it since airmodels are a valuable tool for evangelism I might use the dough on my missionary fund to buy the kit. Do ya think the LORD will buy it?

I also picked up my Cobra kit today which I won't open just yet. I'm scared to open mine. When I shake the box, something inside "rattles". I may have to invite someone from the zoo over to help unwrap the box just in case the wrong snake is inside.

I'm confused.... Aren't you Cobra aficionados going to airbrush the artwork onto your planes? I thought the kit supplied graphics were for color sampling and scaling.

This sucker has got some serious HISSSSSS; it don't bark with decals like no Arf!

that was only the first mailing
mailed three more and I will be mailing more on Monday
then to pack up for the move
