Mustunt II

I was reading the Mustunt article and was curious if the Mustunt II is possibly classic legal. Mr Rabe states the Mustunt II was actually the first of the designs, but I was not sure of when it was first flown. This has always been one of my favorites and was looking for the definitive answer.

I will go through my email archive, but I asked Al the same question two years ago. He told me that he designed and built the first Mustunts around 1971-72, and they were definitely NOT classic legal.

Pity.

I saw one of the earliest Mustunt II's and compared it to an Oriental I'd seen Rabe flying previously; at the time (1971, +/-) he was slightly defensive, but in more recent years he agreed that I was on the mark for ancestral influences. He had one or a couple of modified Orientals that flew before 1970 that I think now were "on their way" to Mustunt II territory, but if any of the Mustunts themselves were legal, it would probably have been the Mustunt I.

Hi Bob,
I just found out that an undisclosed pilot from Nashville, TN (initials: Charlie Pate) has a very nice looking, flying, Sukhoi built from a Mustunt III.
