Has anyone noticed if the RC version of the LA 46 is different than the CL version with it's blocked-off boost port? I'd like to use it in a throttled setup but not if the liner has the port opened up. Guess I could scare up a carb to put on a CL version but naturally I'd rather not have to do that. I'm not aware of any other stock 2-stroke RC mills as tame as the LA series. Is anyone else?

I don't have an OS46LA, but I do have the 40LA R/C version, and it does NOT have a boost port. I bought it before the C/L version was available. Hope that helps.

They are the same. OS isn't going to bother making separate parts. What you has is what you gets.

Need a carb? I have a carb. Oh, do I have carbs. Front needle carbs. Rear needle carbs with good metal bracket rear needles. Big ones, small ones, some as big as... Aw, forget it!

I'll bet you does. It's not typical of OS to make the engines different but I thought they might this time since it would be a step they could skip instead of adding but I guess it might cost them 2 cents apiece to pull the liners off the CNC machine before the extra port was cut out. I'm sure they figure that the RCers won't notice the change and that the nickel they save by not milling the port is just co-incidentally beneficial for us CLers. By the way Leonard what would you charge to alter the timing as Doug Moon suggested in the Cardinal thread or would you recommend even bothering?

I posted a follow on question on RC online and got no takers so I'll try again. Anybody know the ID of the venturi used on the OS 46LA remote needle venturi? If one were to convert to conventional needle valve using a ST assembly what would be a good starting point for the ID?

.288" works good on my OS LA .46 engines with St needle valves.
