T/F Combat Streak

Just looking for some thought's!!

Set/up: Orig T/F kit
OS 25FP Stock no muff (P'cola FL)
1.5 oz. in the tail for balance
63ft eye2eye lines
All new sig dope
I would love to have the pull, it has it now but............
Would like to put an 40 fp up front (still have the room). Just with the wind here I would like to have a more secure hand on it with the more power! I know the 25 is enough power as it is right now. But is it worth it to add the extra weight on the tail for the 40. Or should I just chop the lines? Rob C

An FP 25 is plenty for a Combat Streak. Sticking an FP 40 on it, along with the balancing tail weight, would make it something of a pig, along with the increased pull.

Well, I have already taken steps one & two toward replacing the FP that flew away. We'll find out fairly soon if I made a good deal for what I am paying. I won an eBay auction and have now send off payment, and it was a quite reasonable figure to pay if it's a halfway decent example.

(And I didn't say now or previously that I would put it in any kind of Streak nor that the flyaway was such a plane -- it wasn't)

Prop it for more speed and you may never notice any wind short of a gale. Just don't get in a combat match with it (without a shut- off). I was saddened today to watch a rather strong-running FP punch through the clouds overhead and out of sight at McAllister Park when it got cut off in a line tangle and collision. It was still corkscrewing upward quite rapidly the last time anyone could see it.

It had an APC 8-4 on it, and had been clocked at 70 mph on an earlier flight.

You might get a little more power out of it just by adding the stock muffler. Have you tried it yet? Also those in the know will let you in on the proper venturi size for the most power for that motor.

Gracious. Off and on I am flying a plans-built Super Combat Streak that was originally powered by a 25FP. All the usual crap, extra head shims, tongue muffler, ST NVA...

A month or so ago model was fitted with a box-stock 20FP, including muffler, muffler insert, .257-bore venturi, O.S. front-mount NVA, APC 9-4 prop. Can't imagine a need for more power. Flies well enough that I am seriously considering entering model in Classic Stunt this summer.

One interesting tidbit on the Super Combat Streak is that this is the ONLY one of the Streak series that GMA himself never actually built or flew an example of. He designed it on request by Sid Axlerod of TF, but never built a model. This is all per George.

I had one years ago - put a Fox Mk V .36 (single ball bearing schneurle) on it. 'Twas pretty much a hot rod.
