Is Rust-oleum CLEAR fuel proof?

Has anyone had experience with Rust-oleum clear to know if it is fuel proof or not?

On my (nearly done, thankfully) Time Machine 40, I used the Rust-oleum aluminun for the "canopy frame", while the balance of the canopy will be black.

I have read several times that the "aluminum" color is NOT fuel proof, so I put a coat of clear over the aluminum area hoping that the clear IS indeed fuel proof. Too late in the race to run any *tests*.

Here is a little sneak preview of the Time Machine prior to canopy painting.

Warren, I did learn that all metallic Rustoleum is NOT fuel proof, (not just the silver), but I had it on the nose a large R/C funfly for a year before I found out for sure. (I used blue metallic Rustoleum to spot in a repair.) As long as I didn't get raw fuel directly on it it was ok, but a few weeks ago I let a drip of 15% nitro fall on top of it's nose & it took the Rustoleum off like instant paint remover, right down to the yellow Ultracoat.
If I was you I think I'd spray some on something to test it. Let it dry while you finish the airplane & then drip some fuel on the test piece. If you can give it a week it will be as fuel proof as it's ever going to get. If it eats it you will know right away! The only thing I know that you could do then is sand it again & paint the canopy area a solid color that's fuel proof. Let us know what happens, I've had a can of the clear on the shelf for several years & haven't tried it.

Very nice looking plane! Rest easy, the Rustoleum Clear is fuel proof over Alum./silver. Yes, I tested it. As with all Rustoleum be sure to let it cure. ( I like 3 days at least) Best of luck.
