neat construction idea

I recently aquired a midwest pt19 kit designed by Dave Hemstrought.
In looking at the kit it had some interesting wing construction. The ribs of the wing are all split in two. The split is not quite on the centerline of the rib and the offset is so that you can put the leading edge on a building board along with the trailing edge.
It would sure simplify things if you could build a wing flat on the build board like a clark y airfoil and then glue the two halves together.
Another side note about the kit - it was diecut but all the parts were numbered by hand.

This also has the advantage of making it easier to cut leadout holes and install a center spar.

It seems to be an easy work around for the most common building problem - alignment. I wonder why it hasn't taken off as a construction method for wings?

I've got it on my list of things to try.

YOU ACTUALLY BUILT THE MIDWEST KIT????????????????????????????????????I would have traced the parts, scratch built, excuse me, PLAN BUILT the PT-19 and saved the valuable kit. I have a Midwest PT-19 powered by a Johnson .32 hanging in my garage that my father built in 1970. I fly it every now and then and enjoy the hell ut of it. The Johnson will be going into a Chizler soon and the PT-19 will be retired to my fathers hanger, where he is actually building a full size PT-19. Keep us posted on your project.
