TT 36 Wow!!

Hi all
I flew a profile Cardinal 42 ozs with Brodak 40
I thought it was quite good until I fitted the
TT 36 that Len modified .
Wow! 4-2-4, very consistent, hand starts, goes straight up
and over the top.
Maybe now I can start on learning square loops etc

I have a TT .36 on order myself as well as a Magnum .53.

How much fuel as are you using to do the pattern with the TT 36??

Is that with a stock or modified TT 36? Also, round or "sorta square" cylinder head?

Hi Bob,
It's a used Byron Barker one I got from Bill Hummel. Has the "square head. With all of these "36s"; Magnum, TT, Aero, "old" round head Magnum, we seem to need a little less than 4 oz. But we do fuel for a time between 6:30 and 7 minutes. The Webra and OS 32F 32s are about the same. The Webra 32 and 28 likes higher rpm than the os 32F. The Webra 28 uses just a *little* less fuel. All take between 4 and 4 1/2 pitch it seems. Webra 32 likes less than 4 pitch.
Some are stock, some reworked. The reworks need just a touch more pitch. We have been running these for about 10 years now, and unless I just want a really *period* plane, I use a schnerule (sp) engine for the extra power. I would try the OS LA series, but haven't had a reason to, yet. The Magnums, square and round head, and Aero Tiger have the most *power*, naturally, since they are .36 disp. The biggest difference I find is that you run the *stock* engines in a wet 2 stroke, like the os 40VF, and the reworks run a modified 4-2 break albeit at a much higher rpm than the old engines.
A minor drawback in Classic planes is the extra weight of the engine and coresponding tail weight for balance.

My Neumann TT36 with Bolly 12.5 x 5.5 clipped to 12.25 uses nearly all of 4-1/2 oz.
