What I learned about fairness today

Reading the comics, one called One Big Happy, I learned about fairness. It went something like this.

Dad, "Ruthie, Third place is nothing to be ashamed of!"
Ruthie, "That wasn't a fair race, Dad!"
Dad, "What was unfair about it?"
Ruthie, "The other kids in the race."
Dad, "What about them?"
Ruthie, "I woulda won if they weren't there!"

How many of us subscribe to the Ruthie principle of fairness?

Well. Yea. If there weren't about 30 other flyers in the area better than me, I'd win the Regionals this weekend. Of course, it doesn't help that we have so darned many former national champions around here.

So, this weekend, we'll have the annual Battle of the Bottom Dwellers. It's always fun.

We could adopt the "no score" philosophy used in some little league and soccer programs, that way its fair even if you don't try!!

I hate whining that comes up with stuff like that, what the heck are they teaching their kids anyway? In the real world everyone keeps score and if you were traumatized as an under-achieving child you'll just have to get over it or take up a life of crime. Making the playing field scoreless is setting them up for failure!

Well, it's obvious to me that if it weren't for you experienced pilots, I wouldn't look like such a dork. Boy, you guys have a lot of nerve!
