injection?

I keep returning to the OS ad that features electronic fuel injection.... 'seems to me that this would be an ideal feature for a 4-stroke, but they use a two stroke?

I'm certain that the sensors and the like could be adapted to any engine...leaving room for a PA type to come up with an e-prom that regulates output.

Or have I completely lost it?

Just looked at the 140 RX-FI engine on the O.S. website. The fuel injector uses pressure from the crankcase to work. This setup obviously won't work with a 4-stroke so you'd have to have an alternate means of supplying pressurized fuel to the injector. I doubt a vibration powered pump would have enough capacity so you'd need a tiny electric or engine driven pump of some kind. The complexity and weight (and money) could get out of hand in a hurry here with at best only marginal improvement likely. The fuel draw on these big honking hot rod 2-strokes may be a little iffy which may be why they respond to the fuel injection system but I'm not sure the 4 strokes would benefit nearly as much.

It is a way to monitor everything that is going with your motor. With injection you could make so much more power with the same amount of fuel. You can monitor crankcase temp. You know ahead of time maximum operating temp. you can keep the motor at good temp while performing extremely tough manuvers. This will insure you arent going to overheat during a "prop hanger" I think the abiltiy to do this in a stunt motor would be cool but hard to use because you will need a radio to tell you what is happening during the flight. One cool thing is that the injector is also the regulator. All this is done electronically by the little Computer. Check it out!!

It's not on the OS web page, but in one magazine was an ad for new OS 91FS-FI, so 4-stroke fuel injection is available or coming very soon.

Well that should solve the problem of adapting the system to 4-strokers right enough. Wonder if OS will think it worth their while to add smaller engines? A 91 FS-FI would be just the ticket for a 60 inch span biplane with about 1000 sq.in. Ought to pull like a berserk locomotive.
