Foxberg questions...

I am doing the flying (I hope my squares are reasonable) for a Foxberg entry at Brodak. Gi'me some suggestions as to propeller to use.

I would suggest a 13x8 only because I plan on entering as well. In all seriousness, I am currently using an APC 9x6 with decent results and will try a 9x7 in the near future. Remember that this is supposed to be fun....

I can only measure things up to ten inches, I'm afraid.

As to it being a fun event - I assure you I'll have fun. I've got a special pink and green tutu I plan on wearing. And I always have fun when I wear it, trust me.

Umm? What do square anythings have to do with flying FoxBerg?

That aside, I used 8 1/2 by 6 1/2 Rev Ups, left over from when that was a popular combat prop for some engines. We won a few races using those props back in the dark ages . . (I also tried some skinny looking 8 3/4 by 6 3/4 Rev Ups, but those didn't work as well).

There is also an APC 9x7N which is a weird looking breeze that seemed to haul my Shoestring around even better, but I never went to the 8x8 APC. Some Foxberg rules only allow 9x6 or 9x7 props, so check the Brodak site first.

well clayton we missed ya here at huntersville and look forward to seein ya and your family at brodak
alex and i won the foxberg here this weekend and our prop of choice has been an APC 9/4 running a high 2 cycle with out an over heat problem.... we couldnt run cool enough with the higher pitches and fast restarts are the key

I have to admit that I was there and saw the race that Alex and Dave won. Forget about what prop to use, Alex will put you in the wall! He and another racer had an unfortunate meeting somewhere between turn 3 and 4. Alex was able to maintain control and get pitted... the other guy needed a bag! Lesson... Alex takes that "Rubb'n is race'n" very seriously!

Actually it looked like a lot of fun and I think our club should put on a race or two.

I heard (both by word of mouth and from the sound from the circle) Alex win the Foxberg event. You heard two crunches, one from the sound of the midair and then from the sound of his opponent hitting the ground. I also hear he mowed down his opponents in combat in a similiar manner...

That was me who made the mistake of thinking I could race Alex this weekend at Huntersville. He attacked me, viciously, when I was making a pass for the lead. Hahahaha

Seriously, it was just a racing accident, nobody's fault, Just Racin….

I don't know what rule Brodak is abiding by for their event. On their web site they state that they use NCLRA rules. If that is the case, then only 2 props are allowed, 9 X 6 and 9 X 7.

But, then they call it "Foxberg" which don't make any sense. To me Foxberg mean, only Carl Goldberg model. NCLRA does not have a restriction on model, just minimum specification, like wing area, thickness,etc.

I don't think NW Sport and Foxberg have any restriction on propellers, but I would call the CD at Brodak to make sure.

Another thing that does not make sense it that Brodak's own Fox Racer, the "Super Fly" does not qualify, it they are using "Foxberg" rules.

This is not FOX racing....it's Foxberg.

I did not know they changed it on the web site? Now is said they follow "AMA Unified Racing Rules to apply along with AMA Safety Provisions with the following exceptions."

The execption do not list propeller, so to me that means they must follow the AMA rules on everything else. Doesn't that mean that only 9 X 6 or 9 X 7 pitch propellers allowed?
