I am posting a call to see if anyone attending W/C as spectator that can
help pit FAI Combat. I have heard of various teams that are short of Mechanics. The
expense is too much for some countries to send a full team. I have
volunteered several times in the past and it makes for even more fun. To be
legal to do this a valid FAI stamp is needed. I do not know what the current
status is but the Mexican and Latvia teams I know need help.
Thx

Pat,

So very good to see you have lowered your standards to the point where begging for pitting help in Combat events on a site dominated by Stunt types is regarded as being viable.

Tell your kid hello for me. Also notify him that I have quit telling people what happened the first and only time I flew against him in AMA Combat, Bladder Grabber years ago.

I am sure he will be relieved...

Why don't you ever call when you're in town? Was our last flying session too weird? I'll leave the RC stuff home next time if it makes you feel better.

Pat,
ignore the narrow minded on this forum, combat is just as much fun as stunt, or team race for that matter. It's just that there comes a point when we each have to decide where to allocate our time. For those on this forum, it's mainly stunt.
I would love to come to the US for the World Champs and pit, but it's not possible on many levels, mainly money...
I fly with Bryce Gibson and have to warn you, he's been out flying heaps with the other team members, they've put in a huge effort. He mentions the way you helped him in Germany, every other sentence.....

GOOD LUCK

Phil.

Having been a volunteer "Manager of Retreival Systems" for the Aussie Free Flight teams in '79, '93 and '01 (chase bike provider/operator), I can vouch for the idea that volunteering to assist one of the visiting teams would an outstanding and memorable experience. If you know how to pit a combat model, just do it. Be on the inside, instead of an onlooker! Steve

Man, I would jump at the chance to help with this if I could swing the trip to Muncie. Hope it's a good champs!

Pat,

Can you elaborate as to what's envolved? I am going to the W/C and will be there Wednesday through Saturday and can probably help out. I know Latvians and I will have no problems communicating as long as they can hold their drink Just kidding....

Steven,

If you have to ask, I'm pretty certain you don't want a truthful answer.

Bring *the best* ear plugs money can buy in case you get involved.

Don't f'get to bring your old football helmet. I'm pretty sure the FAI regs require a brain bucket for pit crews. Steve
