Engine Collectors

I was just digging through my engines and found a box that I didn't remember I had with a bunch of Fox engines in it. One is a Fox 29 with a sand cast case with a 2 bolt backplate and a 4 bolt head. Any idea of the value of it? I also have an almost new Torp 35 Greenhead. Value?

As a very rough guide, I paid $125 for a mint sandcast .35 with the 2-bolt backplate and 4-bolt head. The last minty Torp .35 I got was I think around $60.

The Fox with a 2 bolt backplate and 4 bolt head sounds like Duke's 1st engines. The backplate leaked air. He only made a small run of these. The 2nd run had a 3 bolt backplate.

I have a couple of these engines pictured in my book Flying Model Collectibles. They are actually Bob Parkers NIB Arnold and Fox 35s. The price I quoted was $135-175 for pristine NIB condition. I would bet your engine in real good condition is worth $65-85 depending on the day of the week and the number of people wanting one at any one time. There was one recently listed on eBay and can be found by going into "completed auctions". Also in the back of my book are over 600 of the best and hard to find items on the net listed and what some one paid. Not always a good guide for prices as you may have witnessed some one paying over $500 for the MOKI 51. I quit watching when it got to $200. Does your's have the 29 stamped on the exhaust? Jim J.

I'm just not happy with it. It flies alright but under some conditions I'd rather fly the muscle bound Firecracker.

My 29 looks just like the one you have pictured. 29 stamped on the stack. Mine looks to be in better condition than Parker's.

Well, you coud try it in the Sukhoi, but I don't know....

The first engine I ever saw run and fly, around 1950-51, was a Fox like yours. I was impressed.
