I changed sides of the needle valve and don't know where the orfice is to be positioned ! In the older engines it was 'down and in line with the venturi flow'. But this engine has the whole asslembly behind,not in the venturi... Any help?

Point the "hole" directly at the venturi. This sounds like the "sprinkler" system that the stock ST 46 has. If there is a grove around the outside of the venturi body where the NVA holds it in place, the orifice should point to the center of that.
