Ron Connors memorial results

This past weekend we had Ron Connors Memorial contest take place in Wrentham, Massachusetts. Concourse Award Winner was Guerry Byers with his "Miss Olson".

Here are some pictures from the contest:

1) Earl "Woody" Midgley and his new plane. Powered by RoJett 65. Woody is still sorting it out but already it looks like it will be a good plane
2) This is how Experts fly the pattern.
3) Dave Cook glued the wing wrong side up. Now his brand new Nobler flies the wrong way. Come to think of it, all Dave's plane fly that way. Must the something wrong with his wing-to-fuse alignment jig. Powered by Fox 35 ABS. The plane flies really good, event in the wind.
4) "The Coke Machine" by Dan Fish. Front row workmanship. Flies good too but to be honest I spent more time looking at how pretty the plane looked rather than watch it fly.
5) Earl Midgley's last year model. He has graciously let me fly it this season untill I resolve my building situation. With the new baby and a move, it was almost impossible to do anything. Thank you Earl for helping out a fellow modeler.
6) Waldo Cargill's this year's model. The entire plane is built by using non toxic glues and covered with Monocote. Top notch airplane.
7) Rick Campbell's "Green" plane. The camera had some kind of smudge on the lense, thus the yellow spots and discoloration on the fuse that looks like someone dropped an anvil on it.
8) Contest also had GX combat event. This is the first half of the Vader combat family: Jeff Vader.
9) I made Jeff hold a stunt plane for the camera. It took serveral attempts before he managed a facial expression that looked like a smile. Afteward he had to go and wash his hands.
10) Other half of the Vader combat family: Shaylene with one of her ships. Last year, I dabbed in some combat flying. It was an embarasing affair when I was trounced by a girl!
11) After 40 year absence, William Hubin is back! If I remember correctly, Will came in second to Billy Werwage the year Bill won his first Nats title. The amazing part is that he picked up a handle and flew like he's never stopped flying!
12) Will came out with his daughter to the field. I pulled a trainer I had in the trunk of my car "just in case", Dan Fish donated some lines, Dave Cook provided the fuel and Will's daughter found out what he dad does.
13) Will Hubin's new airplane: Profile Cavalier powered by an Aero Tiger.
14) The trainer survived 2 flights without a scratch. She even looped a couple of times!!!! The photo was taken after the flights.
