APC Props?

I often see mention of APC props on this forum. Would someone please clarify what we are talking about. Is this often mentioned prop, the gray plastic "scimitar" type props?

Well, OK! What is the solution to the offset hole problem some of these props have? In other words, how do you repair them?

Heck, I don't know, I never looked at the hole. I guess you could Dremel out the "big" side and then drill through with a larger drill bit, then sleeve it back down.

I don't know about other versions, but the large-hub 7.8-6s have a 3/8"-diameter recess molded in. It accurately centers a 3/8" drill. Drill it and you have a centered 3/8" hole. I found a standoff at the hardware store that is 1/4" ID and 3/8" OD. I guess you could use a bunch of telescoping tubing instead of the one-piece standoff.

I used to fill and re-drill, now I drill and sleeve.

I may be the only one, but I hate those props!

I don't care how good they are, they are so butt-ugly.

That doesn't matter, they disappear when the engine is running anyways.

They do if you run the small-hub version on a Nelson .36.

APC is a brand name; buy them at a hobby shop.

If it's a color problem, just dye them with RIT dye. I did a bunch black and they look better to me.

That would really make em dissapear. Paint the tips yellow, at least.

For performance 1/2A props, like a 4.5-4, APC puts everything else on the trailer. Currell

Do you know of any othr brand that makes 10 X 3's or 10 X 4's?

Master Airscrew does both, I think.

As I wrote before, Graupner makes a 10-3, 10-4, 10-5, 10-5.5, 10-6, 10-6.5, 10-7 and 10.5-6. Don't make me post that info again! They're good props, plastic or not, tho they rather resemble the old KaySun props (did I spell it right?).
