WC Entrance Fee?

I heard there was going to be a $50 "donation" required for entrance in the CLWC's as a spectactor.

Is this true?

No, I haven't heard that, but you never know. By the way, I played the song Godzilla for my kids on the web site and sang along with the words. Now the boys want to get the song and hear it the way it was sung on the record... I know, what's a record?

The word that I get is that the $50.00 is a "donation" to all US CL Teams.
I think it's kinda crappy that it wasn't posted in the AMA Magazine. I had planned on getting to Muncie a couple of days early....

So if I want to come and fly Intermediate it will cost me fifty big ones to access the site a little early? I sure hope that someone gets this cleared up soon.

Edit: After reviewing the AMA site, I see that there is a "Supporter" fee of $50. The "Supporters" need to be included on the team entrance form. I would guess that since I have not registered as a "Supporter" to support the USA team that the fee would not apply to me. Thank goodness there is not an "observer" fee.....

Be forewarned: Until the World Champs are completed on July 10, the site will NOT be open to "access the site a little early" for practice.

Come on down and watch the best in the world fly, but the site will not be open for NATs practice until the WChs are completed.

Point well taken. But will there be someone watching over the grass circles to keep people from flying? Seems to me that if an area is open for practice and nobody is practicing that it would be free game. My personal plan is to go down and watch and practice if there is a circle available during the WCs. On Sunday though, business as usual....
Actually I am interested in meeting the Korean team as business is taking me there from time to time. I have also flown in their version of the Nats a couple of times while I was stationed there. Might even run into someone I know.

Hello, John;

The grass pad will be allocated to WChs flying as will all of the pavement. There will be two grass practice circles set aside for F2B flyers. And there will be at least four, perhaps six circles set aside for F2D.

Now: On Finals day, July 10, there will be very little combat action remaining: only the final round(s) will be flown, and that will be scheduled so everyone other than those watching the Stunt finals can come watch them. But the F2B practice circles will be occupied .

Consequently, the entire site will NOT be open to non-World Champs participants.

Come and spectate on Saturday, fly on Sunday.

This is total and utter NONSENSE!

Spectators will be welcome and will NOT be charged ANYTHING to come on the field and spectate.

That being said: spectators will be constrained from areas where team members and workers will be operating. But so what is new? When was the last time you saw and/or wanted Joe Blow turkey trotting across the pits and into the make ready areas?

But we will NOT have "spectator bouncers" at every entrance, only asking that everyone exercise a bit of common sense and observe and honor the limits that should be clearly marked. We are going to pretty significant lengths for the spectators up to and including bleachers at each of the four sites.(Hope that occurs! )

Yes, there IS a class of Team Member called a "Supporter". When the U.S. team travels overseas to World Championships, this is how you identify those who are going along: family, friends, a helper, etc. the organizer must know who the supporters are since they are liable for arranging hotels, meals, etc. for them. Being a supporter costs money. The organizer has a certain amount of paperwork that must be done to include a supporter and charges a Supporter Entry Fee.

This year, with the WChs being here in the U.S. there are a LOT of folks who want to participate in the World Champs activities beyond simply spectating. As an example, on opening day, part of the festivities will be a catered Barbeque dinner. Since it is catered, and since we must have a head count, the BBQ is only open to Competitors, Supporters, Workers, judges, invited guests, and their immediate families. And it costs money.

Another activity is the Banquet on the Finals day. Again, a catered dinner and open only to those mentioned above. And it, too, costs money.

If you want to participate in those events, the recourse is to become a U.S Team Supporter, and THAT costs money. $50.

So: come and spectate: no charge. Support your U.S. World Champs however you feel comfortable.

What Bill said. That's pretty much been the plan at any of the 4 Free Flight World Champs I've been to, which included 3 in the USA. Perhaps it's not to late to sign up to be a score runner, pull test officer, or water boy. Steve
