Zilch X-pendable...

I was wondering if you guys had any tips or thoughts on building and flying the X-pendable. I just got a set of plans and thought it would be fun in OTS. Would it be overpowered with a stock Fox.35?

Any info appreciated!

Oh, by the way, does anyone have a 1.5 inch needle nose spinner they might be willing to part with?

So far as I have ben able to determine, the Zilch X-pendable is not OTS legal. I have one and I wish it were. A Fox 35 will be fine.

Hmm. It never occured to me that it might not be legal. Well, I'm going to build one anyway. Maybe I'll have to do an X too!

Yeah, but don't hold it against me! Are you? What do you drive?

My daily driver is a '73 914 with a '78 3.0 litre 911 SC engine, front suspension and brakes. Lots of fun. I can actually get my flight gear and a smaller (say .35 sized) airplane in it, but I must admit it isn't the best choice for a trip to the field!

Actually, my "other" hobby is racing, mostly with the Porsche club, but also with a few other groups. The race car (under construction at the moment) is another 914, semi-tube framed, with a 3.3 litre turbo, big flares, wings, fins, etc., etc. Whenever I think stunt is expensive I just stroll out to the garage...

That's my Zilch X that Walter posted. The kit was first rate, typical Umland quality!

Mine has a Brodak 40 on it and it's a great flyer. I have about 20 flights on it and I'm still working on trim and engine break in, but it has great potential. It has a lot of wing area and will really turn a corner. Mine is built stock, I added adjustable leadouts and a weight box to help the trim process. I just need to fly it more often and practice the old-time pattern so I can enter a contest with it.

Also, in the town of Mudgee in western NSW--a wine producing area known for its very rich red wines--one of the winemakers had a Lancia that the other winemakers Christened Pinot Noir--because it was so ##### unreliable.

For those who are not wine aficionados, my apologies for that last one.
