Some days everything ends up going just perfect!
I hadn't flown for about 5 weeks having torn some tendons in my left ankle so I was doubtful about entering our state champs this weekend. I'd had a couple of flights the week before but found keeping my balance in the overheads a bit of a challenge.
I arrived at the venue and found the only hole on the field with my crook leg and wound up on my backside again and thought is this going to be another of those days?
Well I couldn't have been more wrong. The Super Duper Zilch & Pacemaker 59 ( I'm no longer worrying about trying to get a 4-2-4 run out of it) worked really well in the windy conditions and we came in 3rd just a few points from the top two out of a field of 12. Not too bad for this combinations first competition outing and my first podium finish at a State Champs!
I've got to say a big thank you to Peter Barclay who originally built the model and to Howard Bebbington who gave it to me. Cheer guys.
I've got the Pacemaker running at 8,400 in a rich 2 stroke, it occasionally breaks into a 4 stroke in the flat and level, it's more like a burp, maybe 2-3 times per flight but is rock solid throughout the manoeuvres.
Nothing like a little success to put a smile on the face.
