Who is going to the Worlds?

Christi and I will be leaving for Dayton Wednesday night (July 6th). We will drive in the next morning. We are staying at the Comfort Inn until Sunday.

Anybody up for some golf? Hah!

You can play golf in the Winter time. We will be arriving on Wednesday and staying next door (Super 8) through the Nats. But we will be there to see the airplanes and the guys flying them. No time for a frivolous activity like golf.

I'll be coming in Wednesday evening. Staying at the Signature through the NATS.

I'll Be there, arrive into muncie July 1st, leaving 18th july competing in both worlds and nats.

Hope to check out a bit of Indiana, 1st time out of Australia.
So I hope to make a lot of friends and have a great time. Cant wait to meet everyone on here.

The combat guys are doing a contest in Canada next weekend before heading to Muncie and most of the others are going straight there. About half of them will stay on for the US Nats.

Actually, I will be bringing my sticks and hope to play a few rounds. It is all well and good to say someone is going to do nothing but crank out patterns for two solid weeks but I'm afraid this someone would go absolutely berserk doing so. Some flights in the morning and a few in the evening and an occassional foray into the heat of the afternoon just to find out of if the thing will melt ought to be enough. I love toy airplanes and I love my wife but, frankly, sleeping with either one of them 24 hours a day for two plus weeks could leave a man a little weak in the knees.

By the way, just sent Steve Kaluf an Email asking about site availability prior to the official start of the WCs. Turns out that the "extended version of the Nats" starts late in June and they show RC Combat and Helicopter going on during the days we (the team) had been talking about practicing our tricks. Add the fact the grass area has been flooded by bad weather this past month and I'm getting a little concerned about being able to exercise our "Home field advantage" by arriving early to get accomadated to the site.

The new airplane is coming around very well, by the way. Got a few gallons through it and after some teething problems with engine runs the combination seems to be looking good. If this old man's reflexes can stay intact for another month or so he'll do just fine. About Paul and Billy I've no doubt I'll be running hard just to keep up but I expect to do a lot better against them than with the old Pond Scum. If I can stay competitive with them the team will do fine against the world. Don't misinterpret this. I'm not predicting anything other than a good showing by our team. Like golf, there are just too many things you can't predict about a stunt contest ... including a lot of very good competition.

Don't worry about those two events. They fly way far away from where we need to be. If you show up, there will be a place to fly on the site. The L-pad has four circles, unused and unhindered by those two RC events. And while the grass is wet and soft, there are parking lots within walking distance of them. Problem might be getting it mowed to our needs.

I will be leaving for Muncie a week from today, June 26, Will be onsite on Monday the 28th starting to get everything that I am responsible for set up.

Excellent. I wonder if Steve Moon is bringing his clubs, or the BOM (Dale Gleason), RO plays too, as does Randy Smith.

If what I saw in Albany is any indication, I'm sure you'll be just fine.

There is an official City of Muncie flying site over on the west side of town. It's down the street from Gupta's hobby shop. There is a 1/2a, a 60' and 70' paved circles. They are near houses in a public park. Don't know about any curfews or noise restrictions. The locals should know. Try Alan Goff.

If you are going to go sight-seeing, I would make it a point to get to Dayton, OH, to see the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB. I would guess it's about 2 hours drive, but I think it would be well worth it for any airplane enthusiast.

Laurie, Zac (Son) and I will be in on Thursday, then through the Nats week. At the Signature. See you all there. I was thinking of bring the clubs also but I would embarass myself. (The flying is humling enough thankyou!)

Does anyone know if Howard Rush will be at either the Worlds as a spectator? or Flying in the US NATS?

I want to meet up with him and have a chat about a few things, Or could someone point him out?

I probably know as well as anybody other than Marilou whether Rush will be there. Probably so. I intend to arrive Thursday of the WC.
