Honorary Texan Bart Kaplinski one-hands it during recent visit to Texas with his new bride, Dona. Passenger is Flora Hutchinson, wife of DMAA President and PAMPA District VIII representative, Don Hutchinson. Location is Hartlee Field, Denton, Texas, formerly a Training base during WWII operated by the late George L.Harte, Cessna test pilot and Thompson Trophy winner. Bart not only handles a C/L handle with aplomb, he also flies a mean wheel landing! Best regards , dale g

That sure is one great looking J3 Cub.Looks like it must have been a complete resto? Sure do love the old Cubs.

Wonder how easy this was with the variable pitch single blade prop that was made for cubs?

Ol' Four Dueces is actually quite a dog even though rebuilt twice-but photographs well. Here we have Don, aka "Smilin' Jack" getting settled in. About fifty yards away is an old wooden tower (not in view) from which we once flew an All-American and perfected the "wing-under". Best regards, dale g

Question: Does a "honorary Texan" have to demonstrate proficiency in the tasks required to be a real Texan? Like the grizzly bear thing and other equally challenging and or/distasteful tasks.
