Non OS engine choice

Well my bargain ARF Streak arrived today, and I am happy withwhat I got for my $43 including shipping! Now I have a question- I don't have an OS 20 or 25 in the shop but I do have the following:

Super Tigre G20 - .23
Enya model 4005 - .19
Fox 3 bolt back - .19
Fox bushing sch - .15
Fox slant plug - .15

I intend to use the plane as a step up from the SIG Goodyear Buster for the kids to learn basic manuevers. The plane seems very light, haven't weighed it but seems to compare favorably to the used/abused/ much glued/ Streak Jr that Will has been flying with a slant plug.15 on it.

Cast your vote, and add any tips /pointers for any of the above engines on this plane , I've got a good handle on the Foxs, little experience with the ST or Enya.

Fan as I am of the early Fox 15, it just isn't man enough to haul that full size Streak around. They are great on a Streak Jr, however.

The closest thing you offer as a match would be the ST.

This is a non-expert's opinion but:

The ST .23 was much revered in the RC world. I don't have the CL version but would not hesitate to use it.
The Enya .19 is an excellent engine.
The 3-bolt Fox .19 is a great engine.
The Fox .15 schnuerle is a great engine.
I would not use the slant plug for a full-size FS.

The Fox .15 schnuerle (or schneurle on the box for that engine) has the added advantage that you can use .012 lines where the others need .015 lines. I would try 52' length first for either diameter, then go longer if the plane/engine will handle it.

Perhaps someone will speak up who has already used one of those combinations.

Re: the Jr. nd slant plug...that's still a good combination.

One of our clubmembers, Elwyn Aud has an ARF Flitestreak That uses an Enya .19 for power. He has flown it at least a hundred flights. It performs well.

Hopefully He will drop in here and tell you what prop, line length, and fuel he uses.

I'm using 55 foot .015 lines and getting around a 4.5 second lap time with an APC 9/4 and Powermaster 10/29 fuel. Be sure and check the bolts on the front from time to time as they will loosen up.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I'll start with the Enya and then swap to the ST if I feel it needs more OOOMPH.

No experience w/ST 23 but I found the Enya 19 to be rather heavy on my Jr Nobler years back. Also the fact that it had a pronounced detonation problem (I didn't know anything about plugs or fuel back then). I swapped the Enya for a Fox 19 (3 bolt back door and integral front intake) and was quite happy with that. I later built another Jr Nobler for the Fox 15 schneurle. It was great until my first wingover then my controls locked and it never pulled out of the wingover.

True, the Fox 15 slant plug was ideal on my no wheels Jr Flite Streak.

FWIW, I'm breaking in a BB Veco 19 on my FS ARF. Flown it twice with poor settings, but it is clearly going to have plenty of moxie. In fact, I should go run it again......

I use an Enya 19V on a porky (30oz) FS size plane. It has more than enough power for sport flying. A 3 oz tank provides a little over 8 min of fast 2 cycle run. I use an APC 9-5. The ARF FS being a lighter plane should be a lot better.
