Demise of my ARF Nobler Video

OK Guys, I just got the files from Skip Spoula who captured my crash. The crash isn't really all that visible, but the sound is sickening. I think you need Windows Media Player to view it, but here is the link to the crash: http://clflyer.home.mchsi.com/ClevisBrokeHQ.WMV

Wow, Bill... That is exactly what happened to mine the other week. Flying at around 20 feet high and wham, straight into the ground. Felt funny on the controls too, just before it went in. We have a few gopher holes at our site and I started a new one. After the post-mortem, we found the clevis at the flap horn to the threaded elevator push rod had came off. As I was checking things out I also saw that the clevis on the flap horn to the bellcrank had jumped 2 threads. I was able to just pull it off the threads. Here is the crash picture and the repaired nobler today. They are built strong...

My impact resulted in a little bit more damage. From 45 degrees, it went in very hard. You can't build strong enough to survive that.

I do not like the loss of your plane but the videos clips were great.

Here's a happier moment for Bill at the big SIG contest. I believe this is his Class 1 carrier plane. I believe that Bill finished 2nd.

I'm not sure which place Bill got in Class I, but I got second with my Guardian in class I at Sig.

Bill ended up in 3rd in Class I. I had to fly my Profile because my Class I lines failed in the pull test.

Yes Saturday was a much happier day. However if Tower Hobbies comes through with their Warranty, I'll be back in the air in August for Stunt season.

If not, I'll be flying a Brodak ARF.

My apologies Paul. I just checked Mike Gretz's posting. Bill got 3rd in Class 1, 2nd in Class 2 and 3rd in Profile. I should have checked Mike's posting before doing mine.

Those who attended the SIG event were treated to the usual wonderful hospitality, a well run contest and near perfect weather. This is one of those 'must do' events in the Mid-west. If you missed this year, make plans for the next one.

Wow Bill, your right, what an awful sound. I would agree, the SIG people were very in tuned with your pain. Good luck with the new plane.

Latest information on their warranty. After trying to contact various people about this and not getting anywhere, I finally sent an email to [email protected] and received a reply. They want me to ship them the kit, being careful to pack it so it isn't damaged...

Anyway, it sounds hopeful. Hopefully they will honor the request and I'll get one that I can make proper mods to.

It pays to complain. I had to ship the wreckage back to them which wasn't too expensive because it is so darn light. They received it yesterday and after reading my explanation of what happened and why, said that they were going to pass the information on to the service technicians and inform the Top Flite C/L product manager. They are going to ship me a replacement in the next few business days.
Now that I know how nice it flew and what not to use. I plan to get the new one together and ready for the Peoria contest in September.

Well they came through. I got home and noticed a large box on my doorstep. I picked it up and thought that it was quite a bit heavier than my old one was.
When I got it in the house and opened the package I was disappointed to find that they had shipped me the wrong kit. This is what they sent to me:
