BOM Rule??

Hello one and all,
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Also, good luck to those in Muncie at the WC!
I am interested in everyones opinion on the builder-of-the-model rule. Just HOW MUCH of the model has to be built/finished/completed by the flyer? 8 Hours of building time? 20 hours? Finishing? I know that there is really no written rule on this, but am interested in the general consensus. Thanks for your imput!

Seriously, Sean, the topic is so contenious and unresolvable by debate herein that the host has declared it off-limits. May sound draconian, but just understand that any thread devoted to the issue is considered a waste of bandwith.

So the short answer is build everything you can and don't wonder about it out loud while on base (at SSWF).

That said, I had a good holiday weekend, thanks for asking, (I set a PR in the 5K up South Mountain.) and welcome to the forum.

I must commend you all (well, all but ONE, and he got deleted twice) for your restraint.

I am accepting your question in all innocence, Sean, for not knowing the background and contensiousness of the tpSean, the simple answer has already been given you. "All of it". There is no 5 hour or 50 hour criteria, no 5% or 50% criteria. The rule IS specific, however, in stating that you must "completely construct" the entire airframe including all of its major components, as well as completely finish the airplane "with no more prefabrication than is found in an average kit."

That said, I will say no more and lock this thread down. Thanks for stopping by and feel free to ask questions about any subject that is on your mind. I am just asking that we don't get into a bash on this one.
