You should built it anyway, regardless.
Remember that you can still enter, fly, and win a contest,
even if somebody else built the entire model.
You'll only stand to lose a few points, and who cares about that
(compared with flying or not)?

You have been victimized by a chapter in the history of this forum of which you had no prior knowledge.

If you intend to fly at the U.S. Nationals and wish to enter Senior or Open at said contest, the rules are as in the old days: You must have built the model.

However, I believe the Nationals is the only contest left which is run to this format.

So. If in your area there are the usual OTS, Classic and PAMPA skill-level classes, there is no requirement whatsoever to build the model.

In OTS there is no such requirement, plus there are no appearance points (see below). You can even borrow another competitor's model with which to fly.

In Classic you can fly a model from *any* source. Period. You will not be awarded appearance points which is a max hit of 20 points.

In Beginner PA there are no appearance points, no requirement to have built the model.

In Intermediate, Advanced and Expert PA there is no requirement to have built the model. Again, it can have come from virtually any source. However, you will not be awarded appearance points, again a max hit of 20 points compared to your competitors who have built their models.

As Preston says, go ahead with your plans, whatever they may be.
