Slot Machine Question

I'm posting this for my buddy Willis Swindell. He is having some difficulty logging onto SSW these days, but he can still see posts-he just can't reply or add new posts.

At any rate, he just got one of the Great Planes Slot machines the other day. It came with the little CA hinge cutters, and it came with no instructions. He picked up the bigger cutters today, but he is having trouble figuring out how to change the blade. He can get the little screwed on cover off, but the blade won't pop out-is there some sort of trick to this???

BTW, he first tried the obvious thing, and contacted Great Planes. They wanted to SELL him instructions for 3.95(!!!!).

Anyway, if anybody who has got one of these things knows how to change the blade, a post here would be greately appreciated by Willis.

Ok,,this is not too hard, if I am any good at coaching. Once the screw is removed, (the one with the arrow pointed at it). remove the slide that covers the blade housing. push in on blade housing toward the gear drive and lift. Once the front part is lifted, the housing around the blades sldes forward and comes off and the rest is obvious. Hope this helps. I didn't have my digital camera here or I would have send pics.. As I recall that (making sure the power is off when changing the blades) is a problem with the battery powered version. I have one of those and it really isn't as good a choice as the AC version--battery doesn't have a lot of staying power. I don't think you can disconnect the nicad (other than cutting the wire), but that was a couple of years ago so maybe my meomory is faulty.

Willis just emailed me and said that, thanks to the info posted here, he got the blades changed and is back in business.

PS big Seminole, I think he unplugged it first. He still has all his fingers attached......
