Wrinkles

I used Oracover on the flying surfaces of my stunter. Both on open bays and sheeted areas. After a hot day in the sun the covering has lost a lot of tension over the open area's but also there are a lot of bubbles on sheeted areas. They do not dissapear after everything has cooled down. Is this something I have to live with, reshrinking the film and try to keep the airplane in the shade as much as possible or did I apply the material to cold? Any other suggestions to prevent wrinkles/bubbles on a hot day. It looks awfull.

Color of the film is yellow and I applied it over doped balsa wood.

Hard to imagine. Aircraft is three years old so I assume the dope will be cured by now.

I have a friend that has a Moneykote covered Cheyenne, and thats was the only way to keep the stuff from "puffin'". He had an umbrella just for the plane...

The trick is to give the film already sufficient tension during the covering process before you apply heath. Dan Rutherford has written a great article on plastic covering in Stuntnews some years ago. He converted me from a dope addict to a plastic junk(!). send me your address and I send you a copy of the article..

In excessive sun, still there might be a bit of slackening, but this should be minor. Some people cover their ship in silver to reflect the sun better and to keep the covering cooool... Yep, me too.

The silver oracover however is a pain in the euh.. to use. So that was a bad idea.
