Haven't seen or heard anything of Walt Prey lately.. That guy sure could paint!! Really would like to see some hints and kinks about painting from him.. Any body else thinking the same, maybe if enough of us encourage him he will respond.....

I haven't heard that name for many years. Walt striped my Alfa GTV
in 1968...Walt really came into his own when it came to decorating
his FF power models...mostly Jap Tissue..probably as good as,maybe
better than..Toshi Matsuda. I don't know if Walt's Dad, Ralph is
still around; You might try checking the Nostalgia FF sites. I flew
more with Ralph than Walt or his brother(name escapes me). I flew a
often with Toshi. My sons really liked Him.

Here you go! This is Walt's big "Thunderbird Coupe deVille" seen flying last Monday at Sepulveda Basin. Photo was shot by Walt's friend Greg Howie. This is a beautiful model, but Walt has others that are even more breathtaking. Walt is a local legend in custom auto painting as well as free flight and stunt.

A few emails have asked for more, so here's a couple from different angles. The lettering is real gold leaf, a Prey trademark.

Somebody should arrange a special exhibit of models in an art museum, and this, along with some of Walt's famous tissue trim jobs, should be in it.

My earliest model flying memories are from Sepulveda (circa 1964), and the weeds were a lot taller than me!

I see Walt driving around in his "Flame" paint job Chevy all the time. We met recently at the local automotive paint store in Simi. He gave me tips on fixing a scratch on my Tundra.
Walt is actually the person that got me back in control line. I came back into the hobby by way of RC. Walt told me about T&A Hobbies (sorry Leonard, that is the actual name) in Burbank and he gave me directions on how to get there. I picked up my first control line kit in decades at that shop,(Sig Magnum).

Doesn't T&A stand for Tony and Addie (his Mother) Naccarato? Sorry if I butchered the spelling of their names, having to rely on *phonics*! LOL!! I still want Tony to get the plans for the Big Job out!

That's Correct Bill,
I been going to Tony and Addie's since I was 9 years old and I'm 62 now. I bought my first ST 46 from them and I am still running it on the original ring 35 years later, of course it set idle for a lot of years. Kinda weird, I flew this weekend (Sat.) with Addie and she told me she was 84. She didn't fly but she was launching planes and generally having a good time at the U/C field. Always good to see her.

Actually, it stands for Tony (Tony's Dad) and Addie, his mom. The current Tony Jr. is one of the most innovative modelers you would ever hope to meet, and his mom spends all her time building drop-dead gorgeous planes in a 1/3 of the shop walled off for her.

There is NO place like it left in the world, I suspect. A MUST SEE for any modeler coming NEAR Los Angeles.

Tony & Addies shop is a throwback to the old east hobby shops of my youth. The smell of balsa, glue and old modeling mags is heaven for guys like me. I remember the first time I walked into his shop. Tony was suspicious of me at first because I told him that I was coming back into the hobby, and I was going to win the Worlds! I told him to " hand me that Sig Magnum up there."
I almost always head for Tony's when I have a new design finished. I usually show it to him before the paint goes on, so he can see exactly whats going inside.
The late great Bob Baron was always "high tailin it" to Tony's place for stuff.
