Propeller for a OS FS40 Surpass

I just finished a Ted Fancher "Doctor" powered with an OS FS40 surpass 4-cycle engine. On the first flight, I flew it with an APC 11 X 5. It was going way too fast, about 4 sec laps. Next flight I tried a 12 X 4 wood prop. I think this was too much load on the engine.

Anyone out there using a OS FS40? What prop would you recommend on this engine and model combo? I forgot what Ted had on his.

He has his Doctor set up with an OS-40 that has an absolutely perfect engine run.

He's running a three blade and I'm sure that he'd be happy to give you the skinny on his setup. His is the nicest flying non-flapped plane that I've seen yet.

Herman - I've had excellent results with wide blade wood props on the Surpass .40. Top Flite (old style) and Rev-Up work quite well.

Did you consider closing the throttle a little to slow it down? Of course it still may need full power for the overheads, but perhaps it will be ok.

"Specialist." BWAHAHAHA!! Took me about 10 seconds to get it.

I've been running a 12-5 on a Surpass 40 for a while now. Runs fine and does not get hot. I use 15% nitro/22% 50/50 lube nitro. I have run the YS 20/20 with good results also.
