The print on this forum just jumped to a much larger size. None of the other forums I visit seem to be affected. Do I have a glitch in the system or did I inadvertantly click on something that just makes the letters bigger?

My view here of the forum has not changed. I think you may pushed the wrong button somewhere.

If your mouse has a rotary scroll wheel function, hold down the Ctrl key and rotate the wheel to increase or decrease the size of the font on the page.

Aussie got me fixed up! I reset the type size using the view button. Don't know why the other forums didn't appear different. It may have just been more noticeable here. I think I had the same thing happen a year or two ago but couldn't remember what fixed it.

While we are getting help can some one tell me how to type the degree symbol from the keyboard. As in 90 degree turn.

Hold down the Alt key while entering the number 248 FROM THE KEYPAD and not from the number keys above the alphabet.

For those who may be interested in non-keyboard characters, including those found in the Character Map, and more, I have put an easily-printable page of them on site - just click on the browser's print button.

There are many useful characters, such as the British £ (A/156) for Sterling currency.

Instead of the usual text smilie - use ò¿ó

You can click the character Map for a reference to the alt+### for other symbols. Make sure you look in the correct set though. In windows 2000 it is in system tools under accessories. I find it handy enough to right click and drag it to my desk top for a short cut.

I think I have my problem sorta figured out although not solved. Somewhere I picked up one of those bugs that advertisers send out to irritate computer users. I've got the Google tool bar that's supposed to block pop-up ads but somehow there are a few still managing to get through. Whenever a pop-up is about to show up usually the computer will start acting goofy, like trying to scroll through a message but instead causing the font size to change. Maybe the computer is having trouble with the pop-up blocker telling it to do one thing and the pop-up software telling it to do something else. They must have found a new type of pop-up that can defeat the standard blocking program.
