Contest at Woodland Mavis Henson Field Cancelled

I received this email from PAMPA member, Cleon M. Lingwood.

"I have been asked to assemble a group of email addresses of Stunt (PAMPA) flyers that may or may not fly at the Woodland/Davis flying field. The purpose of this group is to keep everyone informed as to the disposition of the field pending the start of construction of a 90' drainage ditch and other changes to the site. If you wish to have your name deleted from my database, please reply and I will remove your name immediately.

All contests, with the possible exception of the "Meet 'n Meat" have been cancelled for the remainder of the year.

The stunt or control line side of the field is going to loose the Number 1, southern most circle within a few days due to the construction. Douglas Barton is working of the problem with the WDA Board, Yolo County and the City of Woodland. He is also working on possible changes to the field. Doug is measuring the remainder of the field and will attempt to create three workable circles in the near future. He will inform me as to his progress and I will forward it on to you.

As of last weekend, the field was still usable. I will check again this weekend and forward any status changes as soon as possible.

No, the county has claimed 60 feet of Circle One for an irrigation canal.

I'm in the (long) process of creating my own flying field on property I own. At least I hope the county doesn't figure out a way to mess it up.

I think all of this was known last year at the MeatNMeet. Someone told me about it anyway. I thought the field was to be shifted to the north where the other circles are, that is why work was stopped on the proposed paved circle as it was also effected by the ditch.

At the last WAM meeting, Doug Barton was discussing a proposal to move the field to another location. The future of the current location does not look to promising and the city wants $11K/area for the land.

Golden State Stunt Championships

Looks like this will be a go in Clovis this year.

Our club now has an relationship with the person in charge of renting the Alameda Naval Base. We have been thinking about hosting a large regional control line contest in the bay area for some time now. We have been invited to do a Father and Son delta dart program and C/L demo ib October 2nd at the Naval base. I will try to find out more information on the Naval Base rental.
